Students from the Greek Community Schools of Melbourne and Victoria have published their own newspaper, "To Vima tis Melvournis," as part of the pan-Hellenic journalism program "To Vima ton Mathiton" run by the Greek newspaper To Vima. The project marks the second stop of the "Vima tis Omogenias" initiative in Australia, spotlighting the voices of young Greek-Australians through original reporting. The newspaper was produced by eleventh-grade students who researched, wrote, and edited articles covering life in Melbourne's Greek community. Topics range from the city's rebetiko music scene and Greek-Cypriot cuisine to sports, education, and the personal experiences of young people growing up in the diaspora. The project was coordinated by teacher Odysseas Kryptos of the Greek Community Schools of Melbourne and Victoria, who guided students through every stage of production, from selecting topics and conducting research to writing and editing. Students conducted interviews, filed reports, and wrote personal narratives documenting both the history of the Greek diaspora and its present-day vitality in Australia. The Greek Community of Melbourne, founded in 1897, has operated language and culture schools for nearly a century.
