Seven Turkish military aircraft conducted a series of air-traffic infringements and airspace violations over the Aegean on Tuesday, according to Greece's Hellenic National Defense General Staff.
The aircraft included two armed F-16s flying in formation, a CN-235 surveillance plane, and four unmanned aerial vehicles operating over the northeastern and southeastern Aegean. Greek authorities recorded ten separate infringements of air-traffic regulations across the group.
The violations went further than technical breaches. Greek authorities logged 15 separate violations of Greek national airspace, with six attributed to the CN-235 and nine to the UAVs alone. The F-16s were responsible for one air-traffic infringement but were not listed among the national airspace violations.
Greece's General Staff confirmed that all Turkish aircraft were identified and intercepted in accordance with international rules and established practice. The incident stands out for the sheer volume of provocations packed into a single day, combining manned fighter jets, a surveillance aircraft, and a swarm of drones operating simultaneously across two separate zones of the Aegean.
Tuesday's incidents add to a long pattern of Turkish aerial provocations that Greece has documented and pushed back against for years. The use of armed F-16s alongside surveillance assets and multiple UAVs suggests a coordinated effort rather than isolated navigation errors.
