A 60-year-old man stabbed two American tourists at the Acropolis ticket area in Athens early Tuesday morning, sending dozens of visitors into a panic at one of the world's most visited ancient sites. An eyewitness named Connie, a Greek-Australian visiting Athens with her daughter, described the attack to Orange Press Agency. She said the group was waiting in line at the ticket booths when screams broke out and people scattered. "We saw a man with a knife go to slaughter a woman," she said. She then watched the female victim collapse on the ground with blood on her back. Connie said she and her daughter moved away out of fear before slowly returning once they saw police arrive. Officers from the Hellenic Police and emergency services from EKAB took control of the scene, removed tourists from the ticket area, and took statements from several witnesses. The male victim was more seriously injured than the woman. Both were transported to the Red Cross Hospital in Athens. The 60-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene.
