Under the command of Mustafa Kemal, the bones of murdered Christians were collected, loaded onto ships, and sent to Western Europe, where industries used them to bleach sugar and tobacco and ground them into fertilizer. The figures are at a minimum of 400 tons of remains, representing more than 50,000 dead.
Hostages were driven on death marches, barefoot and nearly naked, with many dying of thirst in the ravines of Magnesia. Those ravines supplied the bones Kemal later sold.
Survivors were sent to labor battalions. After the Lausanne settlement, 1.5 million refugees arrived in Greece searching for relatives who never came home.
They want the bones to remain fertilizer and the names to remain numbers, wrote a Greek account. We do not forget. The true barbarian is the one who turns the dead into raw material and then lectures the living about civilization, as said online.
