Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler declared that Turkey's S-400 air defense systems, purchased from Russia, are ready for combat at any time. The statement came in response to a parliamentary question submitted by Turhan Comez, deputy chair of the IYI Party's parliamentary group, according to Turkey's Hurriyet newspaper, as reported by SKAI's Istanbul correspondent Manolis Kostidis. Comez had asked whether the Russian-built S-400 systems had been integrated into Turkey's existing radar, early warning, command and control, and air force air defense networks. The question specifically sought clarity on how the Russian systems fit into Turkey's broader defense architecture. Guler's response was direct. He said Turkish armed forces deploy all weapons and systems acquired from both domestic and foreign sources, including air defense capabilities and combat aircraft, based on field-acquired experience, and that all necessary measures are taken to ensure readiness for war at any moment. He added that those capabilities are designed using available resources and are further reinforced by rapidly deployable defense industry products. Guler also stated that decisions are made by his ministry in line with Turkey's national rights and interests, and that the public will be informed by official authorities when there are concrete developments. Turkey bought the Russian-made S-400 system in 2017, a move that triggered its removal from the F-35 fighter jet program by the United States and led to sanctions under U.S. law.
