A retired Turkish air vice marshal has laid out a detailed hypothetical scenario for a military invasion of five Greek islands, including Samos, naming a specific deadline of late February 2028 for Greece to comply or face occupation. Hussein Fazla, a Turkish air vice marshal, outlined the plan on Turkish media, framing it as a way to "punish" Greece and return it to what he called its "former state." His scenario begins with Ankara issuing an ultimatum to Greece demanding the demilitarization of Aegean islands that Turkey considers should be arms-free under international agreements. "Evacuate all islands with demilitarized status, there must be no soldiers here. This is absolutely clear," Fazla stated. He said Turkey would first make formal declarations to the UN, NATO, and other international bodies before setting a compliance deadline. According to Fazla, Greece would be given until February 27-28, 2028 to demilitarize the named islands. He tied the date to previous American precedents. If Greece refused, he said, the next step would be a public announcement naming the islands as military targets.
