Greece's fire service is getting a high-tech upgrade this wildfire season, backed entirely by two Greek companies at no cost to the public. VanGuard Security Drones and deep-tech firm TwinLogic Solutions have been supporting the Hellenic Fire Service since May 1, 2026, with a system designed to detect smoke and fire as early as possible. VanGuard operates the largest drone network in Greece, with a pan-European flight license and more than 110 operational stations deployed across the country, from Evros in the northeast to the Taygetos mountains in the Peloponnese, and from Corfu in the west to Rhodes in the east. Hundreds of specialized pilots run the system continuously, day and night, in all weather conditions. The visual data captured by the drones is processed in real time by TwinLogic's CIVICS platform, a Greek-built AI system that analyzes footage and flags smoke or fire incidents as they develop. The combination of drone coverage and AI analysis means a potential fire can be spotted and reported far faster than traditional ground-based monitoring. According to VanGuard's Operations Director and UAS Flight Instructor, Tsonos, this is the second consecutive year the company has backed the fire service through its 110 drone operation centers nationwide. TwinLogic's CTO Psychogios confirmed the partnership is in its second year as well, saying the team is proud to support fire detection using artificial intelligence. The initiative runs until the end of the fire season and costs Greek taxpayers nothing.
