Miltiadis Tentoglou claimed first place in the long jump at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest on Saturday, leaping 8.35 meters to take the title and $150,000 in prize money. The double Olympic champion, who won gold in both Tokyo and Paris, came into the competition motivated after losing his Diamond League title at the Brussels final. He delivered when it mattered, recording 8.35m on his second attempt to set the standard for the rest of the field. The competition format gave only the top six athletes after two jumps a shot at a third attempt, and the top four access to a final fourth jump. Tentoglou fouled on that fourth attempt, but his 8.35m from earlier was enough.
