Greek singing legend Mary Linda was buried in Athens on Friday morning, two days after passing away at age 91 on Wednesday, July 22. The funeral service was held at 10 a.m. at the Church of Saint Andrew, inside the Athens Retirement Home where Linda had spent her final years. The location was no coincidence. It was her own personal wish to be farewelled from the place that had become her last home. Burial followed at the First Cemetery of Athens, one of the country's most historic resting places and the site where many of Greece's most significant cultural figures are interred. Linda's family made a touching request to those wishing to honor her memory. Instead of flower wreaths, they asked that donations be made to the Athens Retirement Home, as a gesture of gratitude toward the institution that cared for her in her final years.
