Christopher Nolan's Odyssey is showing no signs of slowing down. The film pulled in $87 million in its second weekend at the North American box office, dropping just 30% from its opening weekend, a remarkably small decline for a film that launched above $100 million. That second-weekend total is now the best of Nolan's career, beating out The Dark Knight, which earned $75.2 million in its second weekend back in 2008. Paul Dergarabedian, head of market analysis at Rentrak, put it plainly: a number like that would be a strong opening for almost any film, let alone a second weekend. The film's global haul now stands at $639.6 million after adding $128.3 million from international markets over the weekend. IMAX screens alone generated $48 million worldwide during that stretch, and the 41 venues capable of projecting in 70mm IMAX film have already sold out most of their showings through September. The Odyssey has faced little competition through its first two weekends, but that changes soon. Spider-Man: Brand New Day, starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, both of whom also appear in the Odyssey, is expected to open with the biggest domestic debut of the year. Despite that, analysts expect Nolan's film to hold on to most of its IMAX bookings for several more weeks. Elsewhere in the weekend rankings, Moana 2 came in second with $10.5 million, while Toy Story 5 placed third with $10 million. The Pixar sequel crossed $1 billion in global earnings during its fifth weekend, with $448 million from North America and $573 million internationally.
