A Turkish account on X called for the assassination of Greek MEP Emmanouil Fragkos last week, writing in English: "This guy should get shot dead in European streets. Millions of young Turks in Europe, someone gotta do what has to be done." The post was published on October 12 by the account @alscimler, which goes by the name "yalnız kurt," meaning "lone wolf" in Turkish. X has since removed the post, but its full text was captured and reported by Greek media before it disappeared. Fragkos is a member of the Greek Solution party and had posted a pointed message about Turkey on October 8 calling for sanctions against Ankara. Four days later, he also posted that "Turkey is a terror state," which appears to have preceded the death threat on the same day. Greek Solution party leader Kyriakos Velopoulos went on ANT1 television to address the threat directly, saying the Turks were threatening to kill a Greek MEP. His statement brought the incident to wider public attention in Greece. As of now, it is not confirmed whether Greek or European authorities have opened a formal investigation into the account or whether additional security measures have been put in place to protect Fragkos. The identity of the person behind the account also remains unknown. The phrase "lone wolf" in the account's name adds a layer of concern given its association with lone-actor political violence, though no direct connection to any organized group has been established. #Greece #Fragkos #GreeceTurkey
