A large wildfire that broke out in Boeotia has spread into Attica, with a major front now burning near Porto Germeno and homes already destroyed. Three separate fire fronts are active in the area, with one moving toward the Kithaironas ridge, another near Agia Paraskevi pushing toward Agios Nektarios, and a third advancing from Mytika toward Psatha. Firefighters are working to cut off each front using firebreaks carved by heavy machinery. The fire service has deployed 496 firefighters, 134 vehicles, 19 aircraft, and 11 helicopters to battle the blazes. Among those on the ground are 23 French and 23 Romanian firefighters stationed in Greece as part of a European pre-positioning program. Gale-force winds are making conditions extremely dangerous, with air crews unable to carry out water drops in many cases due to severe turbulence. Emergency alerts via the 112 system were sent to residents in Agia Paraskevi, Kryo Pigadi, and Agios Nektarios ordering immediate evacuation. A second alert followed around 6 p.m. covering Alepochori, Psatha, Veniza, Louba, and Zachouli, directing residents to move toward Megara. Police and emergency medical services are deployed across the affected zones, with all operations coordinated from the OLYMPOS command center. A separate fire also broke out at approximately 2 p.m. Saturday in Skaloma, Fokida, drawing 42 firefighters, 9 vehicles, 8 aircraft, and 3 helicopters. Evacuation orders were issued for the villages of Klima, Pigi, Koukoura, and Nea Koukoura.
