Greek Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis drew widespread attention this week after posting a blunt declaration of admiration for the Jewish people on social media. "Anyone who does not admire the Jewish people is a fool. May we be like them, a model people in every respect," Georgiadis wrote. The statement went beyond standard expressions of respect, explicitly holding up the Jewish people as a model Greece should aspire to follow. Greek media picked up the post quickly, and it began circulating widely online. The directness of the wording, particularly the "fool" framing, is what drove most of the discussion. Georgiadis is known for outspoken public statements, but this one stood out for how unambiguously it was worded. Few sitting ministers make this kind of declaration without diplomatic hedging. #Greece #Georgiadis #Politics
